Slovakian (final) tour starts on Monday

The Slovak and final Central European tour of Baobab starts on this Monday. Our team will leave Budapest early morning to Banska Bystrica where we meet the people of our Slovakian partner: Za Matku Zem (For Mother Earth) who helped with organizing and ensuring the spots (main squares of cities). Thank you for them.

In Banska Bystrica organization Priatelia Zeme - CEPA (Friends of the Earth Slovakia - CEPA), in Zvolen organization Centrum pre trvaloudrzatelne alternativy (Centre for Sustainable Alternatives) and in Bratislava Greenpeace Slovakia, Young Greens, REC Bratislava and ZIVICA will help the success of the campaign.

Hungarian tour

Last week we finished the Hungarian tour. At the Sziget festival (in Budapest) we were attacked by the crowd that we hoped so and met a lot of aware international but mainly and drunk Dutch people. At Vidor (cultural) festival the Baobab was thought rather a toy than a campaign element. At Szeged Youth Festival finally we could meet our real target audience: young Hungarian who were open minded and cool.

Hello all!

On July 19th the participants in the Polish Biking Tour of the Baobab Tree Exhibition set up the exhibition in Kazimierz, Poland. On the Baobab actions there was rain so there were not so many people gathering. Althought at night there was a projection of the “age of stupid” movie which was worst to see.

Next time join us!

Next, the bikers will be traveling to Warsaw on the 24th and setting up the exhibition next to the port of Czerniakowskim. Be sure to come out and visit the Baobab tree and help greet our bike tour participants!

Also, on a sad yet funny note, Vera, one of the volunteers participating in the Polish Bike Tour, has had problems with her knees lately and is unable to bike along with the other participants. Being truly dedicated and tenacious, Vera, instead of returning home, has decided to hitch-hike through Poland, following the Bike Tour on her own using the assistance and generous nature of passing motorists. If you see Vera, you should commend her on her dedication, and ask her if she has met any interesting people while she’s been hitch-hiking!

Hello once again!

I am happy to inform you all that the participants in the Polish Bike Tour of the Baobab Exhibition have all arrived safely in Krakow.

The participants are going by bike as the Baobab tree is taken by van on its tour of Poland. The bikers will be taking a route that can be seen in “the stops”.

Our main partner in Poland is Zielona Siec, which can be found here (www.dlaklimatu.pl). They have also set up a rafting tour down the river Zisztula which the bike tour is following. The tour will visit the main five cities in Poland, and each visit will have a full day climate change event, featuring the Baobab tree and other fun events.

Make sure to come and visit the full-day events, and watch for the bike tour participants as they move along their route, and if you live or study nearby the bike tour, then please join them if you can!

Hello all!

Today the participants in the Polish Bike Tour, to promote the Baobab tree project, left for Krakow.

The participants (Alban, Marta, the two Vera) will be biking across Poland with the Baobab tree, promoting climate change prevention and displaying their newly home-made painted flags and new t-shirts! Watch for the Messzelato crew biking by with their 350 symbols. The participants will be gone from Hungary for about a month, biking and staying in hostels.

Good luck to all of them! I’ll be gone before any of them return, so I would like to say to Alban, Marta, and Vera, that it was a pleasure to meet them and I enjoyed working and speaking with them. I’ll miss you all very much! And good luck to you all as well!
