Climate camp in Hainburg
2007. December 21., lizFrom the 8th to the 9th of December another event to place in Hainburg (near Vienna) to focus the attention on climate change. For two days there was a camp, which wanted to inform the public about the dangers of the current processes in nature and the connections between climate change and street building, destroying nature parks and so on.
The camp started on Saturday the 8th around 1 pm. David and I arrived around three pm. About twenty or thirty people were there, willing to camp and to make a portest. And it was rather international: among the local activists there were a Bolivan girl, a German man and us, David and me. The organization of the camp was rather good, there was a big kitchen camp with all the things you needed. The organization group had made a collection among some food fabricants and received plenty of goods. We cooked at the fireplace and gathered there for the evening and the night.
Also on Saturday there was a press conferenc at three, unfortunately we missed it because we had just arrived.
On Sunday there was an excursion in the nearby woods next to the Danube.
Around noon we left after we helped to put together the benches.
It was a nice camp, but I think it has missed its purpose: there wasn’t a big talk about the climate change, it was never really a topic.
