INTERNATIONAL CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT

350.org International Climate Civic Movement and Messzelato Association announce a land art and climate protection contest for children between the age of 11-18 within non-formal youth groups or school classes in the region of Central and Eastern Europe.
The aim of the contest is to raise awareness of the climate change issue among young people/schools and to get them involved in the global climate change movement. The secondary aim is introducing land art in environmental education to explore and express social messages for change and solutions through work with nature.
The entries will be land art pieced expressing a local social message, and pictures of this art piece will be sent in to 350.org and Messzelato.
Land art is an art genre in which landscape and the work of art are inextricably linked. Land art work is a picture in nature made with also with natural materials (rocks, stones, water, leaves, flowers).
Interested schools will receive an educational pack with land art lesson plans in their native language to help apply land art in their school environment.
The creators of the best artworks will be invited to spend 1 week in in an eco-camp in Hungary and their works will be exhibited at the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.
All entries must arrive by: 15th of June, 2009
