Workcamp in Shtit village (Bulgaria)
The place
From the 10th to the 24th of June, Marlene, David and me took part in a workcamp in Bulgaria. The village where we were living is called Shtit. It is a small village with about 170 inhabitants. The important town nearby Shtit is Svilengrad (population: 20 000), situated near the Greek-Turkish border.

Information boards
The project
The project was to maintain archeological sites and to make them accessible for tourists. It was quite hard work to clear the places. First we cleared an ancient Turkish mosque with its bath, put indicator panels and information signs. The other places were two cave churches. We installed indicator panels and information boards for both of them.
The team
The team was composed of 7,5 volunteers, one camp leader and one logistician. I say 7,5 volunteers because one volunteer arrived at the end the workcamp for the last 4 days.

From left to right: Chloe: English, Carmen: English (half volunteer), Christina: camp leader, David: Portuguese, Benjamin: French, Johanna: Finish, Stephanie: French, Maja: Swedish, Marlene: French
We were hosted by Apostol and Margaux, two Bulgarians from Shtit, who were well involved in the village life.
