About HuMuSz

Sometime ago I had the responsibility to translate the HuMuSz website to my mother language, Portuguese in order to divulge to a broader community the activity of this Hungarian association.

It was very interesting to translate their website I learned a lot not only about this association but also how to manage with waste.

I was introduced to a new concept a new way of thinking for me that even is so obvious normally in this society of consumption we forget, the best way to lead with waste is not to produce waste, they are the waste prevention alliance they are against buying things that are not really needed, against the publicity in young kids promoting consumption, that is why their major target are the kids, the future. They also alert about the excess of packaging on things, how exaggerated it is.

I also got more information about the main processes of waste managing, the recycling, the incineration and he landfill, and they tell us the pro and contra on their website. Recycling is a very good process but not a solution, the best thing for waste is really not producing it, but since we produce it recycling is the best way of managing waste.

Incineration is a fake solution, it promotes more consumption and waste production and is proven that is still bad for the environment, people thing that incinerators will burn all the waste but they also produce waste, for example asses, this can be very toxic and they have to disposable in someplace.

The landfill, the worse solution, since is simply a waste deposit. This process transforms the country into a big dump, there are more and more landfills and when there location is not chosen carefully and they are not done in the right way they can contaminate underwater lines, for what I read the illegal landfills are the worst threat to environment and population should be aware of them an prevent them to be built. Its sad that there is a lot of money involved in this dirty business.

In their website we can know everything about them and their activities is a great source of info, especially about the waste in Hungary.
