Summary of the project

We will integrate a volunteer into a project that takes place over a period of two years (September 2011-September 2013) in the territory of the Community of Municipalities of the Hills of Lake Geneva near Thonon les Bains (Haute-Savoie) and Lake Geneva. It contains 7 small rural or suburban areas (about 10,000 inhabitants). The FOL manages public service delegation actions towards children and youth in this territory: a recreation center (4-11 years) that runs on Wednesdays and school holidays, outings and trips on Saturdays during the holidays for adolescents, prevention efforts with schools and educational ... The premises, made available by the city of Allinges are located in a former colony, "Aerospatiale" with a 4-hectare park built just for the moment .
The project is to build on the development and use of outer space to develop the axis of the environmental education to our public. We plan among other things: réabilitater of a small forest and clearing, to construct and maintain a small garden with composting and recovery of rainwater, to make children a cabin space and play area near the trees premises, creating a small pond and develop our educational mini-farm…

For jobs requiring more specific skills, we expect an agreement with the Center for Vocational Training and Promotion of Agricultural Contamine Arve (which is already working with the FOL in other sectors) to intervene with students in CAP "landscape".
To support this landscaping job we organize time of discovery and environmental awareness to local mettret with children and young people's wealth but also its fragility. Hosting an EVS will allow us, among other things, to open this discussion to other territories in Europe and have a more global issues.
