La Citta Dell'Utopia in Rome

As a part of our Crisscrossing project, Milla and Guri went to Rome this weekend to participate in an event together with our partners from Italy and Spain. Their mission was to give a report on the experiences from the Hungarian side of the project, where we did urban gardening in Budapest's 8. district and visited an organic farm in Gödöllö. The event took place in La Citta Dell'Utopia, an old house in Rome occupied by SCI Italia, one of the Crisscrossing partners.

A planned workshop with outdoor baking and herb gardening was unfortunately cancelled due to bad weather. We still got to speak with people from a network in Rome which specialises in do-it-yourself techniques and we plan to have contact with them regarding future workshops in Budapest!

On Sunday afternoon, the organisations that were part of the Crisscrossing project set up info stands in the garden of La Citta Dell'Utopia for people who attended "La Campagna va in citta" ("Countryside in the city"). Representratives from local consumer networks and advocates of rural techniques then participated in a round table discussing how rural techniques can make urban living more sustainable. After this, Messzelátó and the other organisations shared their experiences from the Crisscrossing project.
